The Passing of Marianne Morse

Dear All,

Marianne Morse passed away today at 8:30 pm CT.  The funeral will be held at 2 pm CT on Saturday, December 19, at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, 4600 Belmont Park Terrace, Nashville, TN, with reception to follow in the parish hall.

Our beloved bishop and his family were at Marianne’s side; and, in the midst of their grief, Bp. Morse has continually given praise to God for the blessed life he shared with this wonderful woman.  Bp. Morse and his family have appreciated our prayers and concern.

Yours in Jesus Our Lord,

+Peter Manto

Advent Garden — This Sunday

This coming Sunday, December 13, at 5:00, everyone is invited to come to a lovely Advent celebration — The Advent Garden (or living Advent Wreath).  This is a beautiful, reflective way for families especially to observe Advent.  The tradition comes originally from Germany, and was brought to our parish by Fr. Harry and Sherry.  It is an opportunity for children to be led through a labyrinth of evergreen boughs and candles in a darkened room to the Christ Candle in the center, as Christmas music plays in the background.  In the hustle of holiday happenings, the Advent Garden reminds all of us of the need to reflect and  of the joy of mystery during this season.  We hope you will be able to join everyone for this special time — which should last about an hour.

Update — Marianne Morse

From Bp. Dan —

We thought Marianne was going to move into hospice today, but they don’t seem to have room. One may be available later today–just waiting to get a call. The hospice nurse just left and was a big help. The respite care is for 5 days after which she might come back home or move into hospice depending on her condition.

Thank you for your prayers.

Prayer Request – Jon Miller’s Father

Jon’s dad is in Miami Valley Hospital because he is unable to walk.  Jon will be meeting with the doctors later this evening to see what the various complications and medical conditions are.  His father is 86 years old so there are many factors which will influence what happens next.  Please pray for Jon’s father and for his mother, and also for Jon and his sister who are having to deal with all of this.

Heavenly Father, who by Your Holy Spirit, comforts us in all our afflictions, we pray for your servant who is suffering in hospital.  We ask for Your mercy on him and your comfort.  Let Your presence give him peace.   We also pray for his family as they seek the best options for treatment and care.  Give them, we pray, wisdom and peace.    Lord Jesus, our Healer, we pray for healing of body and soul according to Your perfect plan.  And we ask that these things be done for Your glory.  Amen
