Update — Anita Evanhoe’s Mother

They have removed neck artery IV with backup pacemaker this morning & other stuff. Will move her to regular room later today if one is available. Depending on how things go she may go home today but for sure on Sunday (if everything keeps going as it has been).

Please continue to keep both Anita and her mother in your prayers.

Almighty God, we thank you for the successful heart procedure  for Georgia and for your constant love and mercy in this time of waiting.  We pray that you will bless Anita for her faithfulness and love, even as you continue to work in Georgia for healing of body, soul, and spirit.  We praise you for your goodness, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen

Update — Marianne Morse

We just got home from an appointment with the surgeon who took out Marianne’s lymph gland in her neck last week, and he said the pathology report confirmed that there was cancer in the lymph gland, but surprisingly it wasn’t what they had expected. Though her bladder is clear of cancer, the cancer in the lymph gland was bladder cancer, and they expect that the spots in her lungs are also bladder cancer. She hasn’t met with her oncologist or gynecologist yet, but they had already discussed and devised a treatment plan based on their assumption that the cancer in her neck was going to be some other cancer, so now they will have to come up with a different approach. She is also going to have to have a new appointment with the bladder doctor to see what he says. Since her bladder was clear of cancer last week he told her she didn’t have to come back for 6 months.

I hope this isn’t confusing, but we’ll be happy to answer any of your questions.

By the way, the surgeon said we sure made his job easy by being so happy about this. Of course, we aren’t really happy about it, but we are very pleased to rest in God’s hands and in his loving care.

Thanks for your prayers.

+Dan

In Memoriam — Dorothy M. Grote

In Memoriam

Dear DMA and REC Family,

As some of you may know, Mrs. Dorothy M. Grote, age 92, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, May 24, 2014. Mrs. Grote is the mother of Bishop Royal Grote. Bishop Grote will be in New Jersey over the weekend of May 30-June 1 for the memorial service which will be held at Community Bible Church in Shark River Hills, New Jersey, on Saturday, May 31, at 2:00 PM. Bishop Grote wanted to convey his thanks for the many expressions of love, prayer and sympathy which he has received.

Info Update — Anita’s Mom

Anita Evanhoe just called to say that the procedure for her mother this morning was actually the implantation of a new heart valve, rather than bypass surgery.  The surgeon has just told Anita that the procedure went smoothly and her mom is in recovery before going to the ICU for further observation.  Anita is doing well herself and greatly appreciates everyone’s prayers.

Prayer Request — Anita Evanhoe

Please pray for Anita’s mother, Georgia, who is having heart bypass surgery today, until about 1 p.m. our time.  Please also pray for Anita as she waits, and then ministers to her mother during recovery.

Dear Lord, our Great Physician, who in your earthly walk healed the diseases of our frail bodies: Bless the surgeon who is ministering to your servant, Georgia, with knowledge and skill, and guide his hand; so that all things may work together for good, and she will be speedily restored to health; bless and guide all who minister to her at this time, and give peace to your servant Anita, who awaits the work of your hands for her mother, we pray to you who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, forever one God.  Amen

Prayer Request — Bill Fortener

From Dorathea Fortener —

Hello everyone  –  I just arrived home about 10 p.m. from being at Miami Valley Hospital’s E.R. since 2 p.m.  Bill fell this morning and broke 3 ribs, one puncturing his right lung.  He was admitted to the Surgical ICU in case he has to have surgery; it’s not really expected, but if the air between his lung and rib cage gets worse, surgery is a possibility.  He was in a lot of pain (9 on a scale of 1-10), but is resting well now.  They’ve given him morphine and are going to monitor him very closely so that he doesn’t go into pneumonia.  While at the hospital, he had an ultrasound of his left leg, which was greatly clogged with blood clots in January; there are still some clots in his leg, but they are blocked from traveling by the filter that was inserted in January at the time his stent was implanted.

That’s all the news I have at this time, but I’ll keep you informed as he progresses.  You can help me by reinstating prayers (or continuing them) for Bill.  He was very tired when I left and was NPO (hasn’t had anything to eat or drink since 11 a.m.)  –  this did not make him happy.

God bless each of you for your love and prayers.  Love to all, Dorathea

O Lord, who feels the pain of the world, and looks upon all sick and suffering persons with compassion, enfolding them with your love; Grant that in the midst of pain our brother Bill  may know your presence; to his doctors and nurses grant tender hearts and healing hands; and give health again in body and soul, for the sake of your mercy, in which we pray through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Update on Marianne Morse

From Bp. Dan —  Marianne and I just got back from a follow-up visit to her bladder doc, and he said the tissue he took from her bladder was clear–no cancer. We won’t get the pathology report on the lymph node until next week. Thanks for your prayers.

+Dan

O Lord, whose compassions fail not, and whose mercies are new every morning; We give you great  thanks that you have graciously given to this our sister hope of renewed health. Continue, we pray, in her, the good work that you have begun; that, daily increasing in bodily strength, and humbly rejoicing in your goodness, she may continue to improve in health and wellness, through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in whom we all live and move and have our being.   Amen

Women’s Fellowship

Tomorrow is the last day to let us know if you are coming to the Women’s Fellowship Dinner on Friday evening at Sherrie Miller’s home.  Please email Sherrie  at slbfkm@yahoo.com to let her know.  The menu sounds awesome and the evening will be great fellowship.  Thanks very much!  (You can also message her on Facebook Jonathan NSherrie Miller.)

Update on Marianne Morse

Thank you for your love and prayers! I just got home from the hospital, but Judith is still there with Marianne. They’ll be coming home in a little while.

Judith and I met with both surgeons after the surgery. Dr. Hawkins, who did the bladder surgery, reported that in the full lights of the operating room Marianne’s bladder didn’t look nearly as dire as the earlier imaging had led him to believe, and as a matter of fact it actually looked very encouraging. He took a few samples of tissue to send to the lab and the results ought to be back in a few days. The surgeon who took out the lymph gland on the left side of her neck said that looked good also, but he couldn’t say anything definitive until the lab work came back.

Blessings and much thanks!

Rob (and for Jan and Bella)

Prayer Request — Marianne Morse

From Bp. Dan — Marianne is having surgery on Monday to remove lymph nodes from her left shoulder so that they can determine if there is cancer. We appreciate your prayers.

Father of compassion and mercy, who never fails to help and comfort those who cry to you for succour; Give strength and courage to this your daughter in her hour of need. Hold her up and she shall be safe; enable her to feel that you are near, and to know that underneath are the everlasting arms; grant that, resting on your protection, she may fear no evil, since you are with her and will comfort her; through Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Obituary — Jo Robles

Many of you knew Jo Robles from earlier days.  Here is the information on her passing from Sherrie Miller:

Jo Robles (born 6/2/57)  passed away in late February of this year. Jo had abdominal surgery in November 2013 and developed serious severe complications a short time afterwards. She was hospitalized and had emergency surgery. She was next moved to a nursing facility. Her health continued to decline and she passed away in late February. Please remember her son and family, Michael and Holly Gordon,  daughter Courtney Robles-Naegele, and their children in your prayers. Those who have a memory of Jo (trying to compile some for the children) or would like to help with purchasing a memorial gift (depending on what we can raise), please contact Sherrie Miller at  slbfkm@yahoo.com or message on FB.  Our understanding is that there was no provision for death services and I would like to see us able to reach out to the family.

Almighty God, Father of mercies and giver of all comfort; Deal graciously, we pray , with all those who mourn the loss of our sister Jo, that, casting every care on you, they may know the consolation of your love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
