Prayer request – Nicole

Many of you know Nicole and Larent from Rwanda. Nicole is pregnant with twins, they also have a toddler. She is on Dr. ordered bedrest to try to delay birth until the end of Feb.

Laurent works nights and has to take her to the Dr. twice weekly. Nicole is very, very tired as well.

Please pray for the health of Nicole and the babies and the family’s well being.

Max and Erma’s Fundraiser this Thursday

Although Springboro is far away from our North Dayton neighborhood, perhaps some of you will be in the Springboro area on Thursday and will be looking for a place to eat…

v Come Out and Help Support the Fine Arts Department

There’s a new kind of FUNdraiser in town that’s so easy! You have to eat, right?! Well, you can feed your family and support the Dayton Christian Band and Choir at the Springboro Max and Erma’s on State Route 741 on Thursday, February 3rd, with the attached flyer. Don’t forget the flyer! The more you eat, the more money we raise, as 20% of each check is donated back to the DC Band and Choir. The Fundraiser is all day long. If you have friends, family and co-workers that want to have lunch, dinner or carryout, send them in with a photocopy of this flyer.

Many thanks in advance from the DC Band and Choir for your support and for dining at Max & Erma’s on February 3rd. The DC Band and Choir are traveling to Chicago to participate in a music clinic at VanderCook College of Music May 13-15, 2011.

Thanks for supporting the Fine Arts at Dayton Christian!

prayer request

One of the foreign students where I work had to go home suddenly this week. It seems his father is very near death. He had a heart attack/triple bypass surgery on December 26th, but ever since then has been in the ICU with pneumonia. Unfortunately, this wasn’t communicated to Michael because his mother didn’t want to worry him. (He knew about the heart attack- he didn’t know his dad had not recovered.) Pray that he’ll have safe travels there and back, and that the time with his family will be well spent. I know it will be stressful on him to come back here to classes next week (as I presume he plans on doing). He knows the church, but doesn’t really practice (he’s Greek Orthodox). Pray for peace for him, provisions for his mother, that I can be a good friend to him, and that he’ll be able to rely on God in this (and possibly change his life/priorities).

Thanks,

Jen

Prayer Request

Please pray for Rodney, a friend of Mike McDermott. He has pneumonia and a strep infection in his blood. He is in an induced coma in ICU and really needs prayers for healing of body

Prayer request:Candy Jacques

Please pray for Candy’s eye. A hemorrhage formed again. She can see very little in her left eye. It sounds like she will go through the same procedure as before – a nasty shot and then eventually the laser procedure to get rid of the part of the retina that doesn’t have enough blood supply.

Urgent Plea for Moving Help

Dear church family,

We have secured a house for Jerome and Ernestine whose home burned Sunday night. We need to move them in tomorrow (Thursday). This is something of a crisis as Red Cross support for their hotel has now expired, so read this as an urgent plea for helpers, trucks, and boxes. The move will be from 109 Warder St. to 50 Neal Ave, a very short hop. If you can help tomorrow afternoon, please contact Barb at 878-9826. Thanks!

Prayer requests:Prengers

Praise Report: Prayer Request : Rebecca Bendrick stuck in snow among many others in Washington DC

Praise Report! She’s HOME! Traffic started to move after my last e-mail and Rebecca was able to get back on a portion of the parkway she was familiar with..it was all downhill and had been plowed. Soon there after she saw the signs for Andrews AFB …..and is now safely home. 9 hours stuck in snow, d, but safe and very very thankful for your prayers.

A special thanks to Chris Herman who stood by praying and offering assistance, including a very handy helpful list of survival tips which we passed on to Rebecca.

They are worth sending out to everyone, but not tonight. I’m heading to bed.:-).

Signing off.

Susan

More – Prayer Request : Rebecca Bendrick stuck in snow among many others in Washington DC

Susan just called me – her daughter is stranded with many, many other vehicles. The road she is on is closed and her daughter is running out of gas. Many people have left their cars and walked away. Susan’s brother called and said he could not get to Rebecca, even with his 4 wheel drive. Her insurance company will not send a tow truck.

She did get her car to the side of the road, after a police officer demanded it. Susan has a friend in Washington who is going to try get someone to get her daughter and Susan’s brother is also going to try to get someone to get to her. Rebecca is on Suitland Parkway with only woods along it. So – it feels like a bad area. Rebecca is scared and alone.

Please pray for Rebecca to stay warm, that her battery lasts and that miraculously her gas lasts and Rebecca can stay warm. Susan thinks that Rebecca will be out in the cold all night.

Subject: Prayer Request : Rebecca Bendrick stuck in snow among many others in Washington DC

Hi Karla,

I’ve got an update from Rebecca! My brother is trying to reach her in his 4wheel drive truck, but the roads are closed and he is about 30 miles out.

The road she is on has shut down completely and only the people stuck in snow are left. So she is waiting it out and we are hoping my brother is able to reach her.

She has very little gas left, and other than being cold and wet from trying to get her car unstuck…she is ok. She’s been out there for 5 hours!

She was told the towing trucks would not be able to get to her. I am praying for their safety.

Thanks for your prayers.

Dayton Christian Schools prayer need

v DCS Prayer Need:

v

On Monday, January 31st the Ohio State Controlling Board will be meeting to consider funding several projects, including the Dayton Christian dorm demolition project on which my office, in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Development and Miami Township, has been diligently working. The implications of this meeting are enormous and could provide us approximately $370,000 for demolishing the dorms. We would like your prayers for a positive outcome from this meeting. We have trusted God through this entire process and will continue to do so knowing His mighty hand is in everything and His blessings are abundant.

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep

On praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:18

Gratefully in Christ,

Praise Report and Refugee Update

From Amanda: I received good news from my doctor yesterday. I do not have the diffuse form of scleroderma. I am getting a referral to see a rheumatologist who will keep a watch on me and treat symptoms as they develop. Please continue to pray for a slow progression of the disease.

Update on Jerome: The fire damaged the attic and only one bedroom, so very little was lost to the fire. If anything in particular is needed, we will let you know. We will need help moving things as soon as they secure a house. At this point, boxes would be very helpful; if you have any boxes you can donate within the next couple of days, please drop by the church and put them in the closet in Room B-2 (the science lab).

Update on fire victims, take 2

Update on Jerome and Ernestine’s family:

Pam and Gary Laughlin are working closely with them to locate permanent housing. We have one house that’s definitely available through Mr. Vo. They remain covered by The Red Cross through Wednesday. Amanda was able to assess the damage to household goods today, and found that most things are salvageable!

Please pray that Pam and Gary will be able to have a successful discussion with Jerome about his housing options this evening.

Thanks,

Barb

Prayer request – Suzie’s ears

Hello,

Suzie is having to surgery on Monday, January 31st to re-do her earlobes. This is to get rid of the scar tissue that was left from the surgery in June. Hopefully this time it will work – no more tumors and no more scar tissue!

I get really nervous around this doctor, too. Pray that I can “keep it together.”

Karla Herman

Prayer Request: Immediate Refugee Need

Overnight Jerome and his family suffered a home fire which left them unable to return to the house. The Red Cross has put them up in a hotel for tonight (Monday evening). All are safe; most left the house without having time to put their shoes on. The family lost everything to a fire just before they left Africa, so you can imagine how more devastating this is for them.

Jerome and Ernestine have five children; some of you know their daughter Denise, who works in the church nursery on Sunday mornings.

Jerome and Ernestine have such a heart for the Lord. Please pray for the Lord to direct us, both individually and corporately, in ways to help this precious family.

Update – the Red Cross and Catholic Social Services are helping this couple out with housing. Contact Amanda Roberts if you would like to know more or help out with this family.

Prayer for Bob Prenger

We are asking for ongoing prayer for our son Bob. He had a skin mole shaved off and tested, with the result being moderate atypical change.

This result is in between normal skin and skin cancer. It is far enough away from normal that the dr. removed all of the area around the mole.

Please pray that Bob’s skin would be healed and any other less than normal skin areas would return to normal. Also pray that no further atypical areas would appear and if any other atypical skin does appear he would see it early and be able to receive simple treatment.

Thanks, Pat & Darlene

Prayer Request: Jane Roberts

Dear church family,

Please pray for our Janie. She has managed to sneak past our eyes and into her mouth food products that contain wheat quite often over the past few weeks. As a result, the skin on her legs and feet look awful; she scratches them the moment they are uncovered. She now has dry patches on her back and face because of something she ate yesterday. Please ask the Lord to heal her skin and cause her parents be more vigilant.
